  Why HUMidi

  Being a classical amateur musician and a Jazz musician I was never very satisfied with the MIDI sequencers to be found on the market. They all were designed rather for technicians than for musicians.

  I therefor started writing my own MIDI software and produced rather a MIDI interpreter than a complete sequencer. HUMidi can write back MIDI files including some of the esential new attributes like transposition or channel filters. HUMidi writes writes companion interpretation files so that the interpretation is preserved when you load the file again.

  I concentrated on musical functions like

  • variate the tempo
  • filter out voices (channels) (ex.: the melody if you want to produce a karaoke version)
  • change the general volume
  • change the dynamics (piano, forte, crescendo etc.)
  • transpose (ex.: change C-major to D-major)
  • send MIDI controller events (reverb, chorus etc.)
  • select one out of several MIDI devices
  • play extracts from a MIDI file
  • get information about the play time
  • get information about the number of bars
  • get information about the number of voices (channels)
  • get information about the number of tracks
  • get information about the signs (if available)
  • mix MIDI files (also concatenate two MIDI files)
  • see the MIDI texts
  • metronome based count-in function
  • save and restore the song specific interpretation parameters (extension .int)

  To install HUMidi please read the Readmexxx.html file in the zip archive first. There is also a Help file describing many of the HUMidi details.

  HUMidi establishes a TCP/IP connection for the pure internal communication between program threads. Your firewall may disliked this. There is no communication with the outside world!

  Warum HUMidi

  Ich bin Amateurmusiker im Bereich der Klassik und des Jazz. Mit den üblichen MIDI Sequencern war ich nie sehr zufrieden:sie sind eher für Techniker als für Musiker geschrieben. Deshalb habe ich vor einiger Zeit begonnen, meinen eigenen MIDI Interpreter zu schreiben.

  Ich habe mich auf eher musiknahe Funktionen konzentiert wie:

  • Variation des Tempos
  • Ausblenden von Spuren (z.B. der Melodie - etwa für Karaoke)
  • Ändern der Gesamtlautstärke
  • Dynamikvariationen (Piano, Forte etc.)
  • Transponieren (Ändern der Tonart/Tonhöhe)

  • Spielen von Ausschnitten
  • Informationen über den aktuell gespielten Takt und Schlag

  • Informationen über die Anzahl der Spuren
  • Informationen über die verwendeten Kanäle

  Vor dem Installieren von HUMidi lesen Sie bitte die Datei Readmexxx.html im zip Archiv. Es gibt auch eine Hilfe Datei, die die meisten Funktionen von HUMidi erläutert.

  Bitte beachten Sie: HUMidi verwendet TCP/IP Sockets für die interne Kommunikation. Ihre Firewall hat vielleicht etwas dagegen. HUMidi baut keinesfalls Verbindungen zur Aussenwelt auf!

  Pourquoi HUMidi

  Vous pouvez télécharger ici une version de mon logiciel HUMidi (1.5MB archive zip) - qui prétend plutôt être un interpréteur des fichiers MIDI qu'un séquenceur. Ce logiciel s'adresse surtout aux musiciens classiques (qui ont besoin de fonctions musicales come le ritardando, accelerando etc.) mais peut être utile pour toute autre tendance musicale.

  La version francaise n'est pas encore terminée - je m'en excuse. Pour le moment le fichiere contenant les textes de l'aide ne sont pas encore traduits. Les textes pour les menus et les autres éléments des dialogues ont été traduits en francais.

  Voici les fonctions fondamentales de mon logiciel HUMidi:

  • Variation du tempo
  • Filtrage de canaux (essentiel pour le karaoke)

  • Instructions pour changer la dynamique (forte, piano, crescendo etc.)

  • Mélanger dexu fichiers MIDI
  • Création de fichiers d'interprétation associés avenc le fichier MIDI. Ces fichiers peuvent être lus et changés (extension .int)
